case study - mrs j
In January 2008 Mrs J underwent cosmetic nose surgery at a private clinic which went wrong.
An independent plastic surgeon concluded that Mrs J's surgery had been negligent as her surgeon: (a) performed a nostril reduction, which is rarely indicated in a Caucasian and was not clinically indicated; (b) made incisions at the wrong places, producing unsightly and irregular scarring; and (c) removed far too much tissue, leave very small asymmetric nostrils which collapsed on inspiration.
Mrs J was left with significant pain and breathing problems; her sense of taste was affected and she suffered psychological injury. She required extensive revision surgery.
We successfully recovered the sum of £30,000 for Mrs J.
