Brow or forehead lift
Brow or forehead lifts have increased in popularity dramatically in recent years, with around 900 patients opting for the operation last year - a 50 per cent rise over the previous 12 months alone.
Although the decision to undergo such surgery is different for every individual, the procedure is mainly undertaken by women who are unhappy with creases in their forehead.
The operation is most popular with people aged between 40 and 60 because it can make patients appear younger by removing loose skin and ironing-out wrinkles above the eyes. It is sometimes performed in conjunction with a facelift.
Below is a list of typical problems associated with brow or forehead lift surgery:
- Excessive scarring
- Nerve damage or numbness
- Impaired eyebrow movement
- Wrinkles or creases returning after a short period, e.g. if a form of deep fixation is not used by the operator
