TJL Solicitors are leading a legal battle against Isolagen anti-wrinkle treatment

Isolagen Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

Isolagen Anti-Wrinkle Treatment - class action legal suit led by TJL Solicitors

What exactly is Isolagen?

Isolagen was pioneered in the USA and first promoted in Britain by a firm operating under the name, Isolagen Europe Ltd, five years ago.

It was billed as a revolutionary treatment which used only a patient’s own cells to reduce wrinkles and the onset of ageing.

The technique involved doctors taking a tiny sample of the patient's skin, usually from behind their ears, and harvesting collagen-producing cells, called fibroblasts, from the sample.

These 'youthful' collagen cells were then grown in a laboratory until they had multiplied into a large enough sample, typically two months later, to be injected back into the patients' face.

The theory is that over time the cells continue producing the collagen, allowing the patient to 'grow their own facelift' and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars and sun damaged skin.

Sounds too good to be true?

Many women failed to see the skin improvements promised and felt they had been duped into spending thousands of pounds for a treatment that didn't work.

Also, despite the process being described as using only the patients’ own cells, it emerged that the patients' harvested cells were in fact cultivated in animal serum prior to being re-injected.

In March 2007 Isolagen shut its British operations and is no longer available in the UK.
