The crescent lift is a mastopexy technique in which the surgeon administers a crescent shaped incision around half of the areola.


Breast uplift surgery is usually performed under general anaesthetic.

The surgeon will make a small incision around just half of the areola.


Next, the surplus skin around the crescent line is taken off.

The skin from the crescent line is then reattached to the areola. 

Complications / Negligence Signs

Loss of nipple sensation after the surgery has taken place.

Haematoma (bleeding under the skin) – you may need surgery to drain the area. 

Surgical Risks

General anaesthetic carries numerous risks however, these are very rare (typically, these risks will occur one case in every 10,000). 

Complications can include:

  • Anaphylaxis (a harmful reaction to the anaesthetic)
  • Inherited reaction to the anaesthetic
  • In extremely rare cases, death (approx. 1 death for every 100,000 general anaesthetics given).

Risks are more likely to arise if:

  • You are undergoing emergency surgery
  • You have other illnesses
  • You are a smoker
  • You are overweight
