Allergan Breast Implants Compensation Claims
On 19 December 2018, it was announced that textured breast implants made by the manufacturer Allergan were to be removed from the market in Europe. This was due to the breast implants being linked to a rare form of lymphoma called Breast Implant Associated-Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL).
This move followed advice from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) on 16 July 2016 which stated that: “Members are advised that all patients seeking breast augmentation should be informed about BIA-ALCL, stressing that this is a very rare condition, which in most cases is readily treatable.”
If you received implants made by Allergan between 16 July 2016 and 19 December 2018 and were not given adequate warning about the associated risk of BIA-ALCL, our specialist team of breast surgery negligence solicitors could help you seek Allergan breast implants compensation. Get in touch today to find out if we can put your case forward for a claim.
SIGNS OF BIA-ALCL
BIA-ALCL typically presents as a late asymptomatic swelling of the breast long after surgery - usually between three and 14 years post-implantation.
While cases of BIA-ALCL are very rare, it is understandable that women who have or have had Allergan textured breast implants may be concerned about the potential health risks. Investigations into BIA-ALCL are ongoing, but patients should be assured that many positive outcomes have been reported and in most cases patients have achieved complete remission.
