Autologous Fat Transfer Claims

Claim for Brazilian Butt Lift Negligence

Autologous fat transfer or a ‘Brazilian butt lift’, as they are commonly known, is a cosmetic surgery to reshape or enhance a patient’s buttocks following weight gain, weight loss or pregnancy or for aesthetic reasons. Autologous fat is fat-derived adult stem cells re-introduced into the same body and it is removed from more corpulent parts of the patient’s body such as the flanks, stomach or thighs and injected into the buttocks to ‘lift’ them up. The other common technique to achieve buttock augmentation is buttock implant surgery and you can read about that here.

If an error in procedure is made by your cosmetic surgeon during your autologous fat transfer, considerable financial compensation may be awarded. A cosmetic surgery legal firm can make a buttock fat transfer negligence claim and help you to recover from the pain and distress a bad autologous fat transfer procedure can cause.

Are Celebrities Encouraging More Buttock Augmentation Procedures?

This type of buttock augmentation is sometimes requested by women who feel they would prefer their buttocks to appear fuller. To date, fat transfer has most commonly been used for breast enhancement purposes but the number of women seeking the treatment as a means of filling and enhancing their buttocks is rising. And while the reasons to undergo autologous fat transfer is different for every patient, the increasing number of procedures done in the UK every year perhaps reflects the current popularity of the fuller figured celebrity such as Beyonce and Kim Kardashian.

No matter the rationale for undergoing an autologous fat transfer procedure, there are now more cases in the UK where this type of buttock augmentation has gone wrong. Cosmetic Surgery Solicitors are the first legal practice in England & Wales established to aid victims of negligent cosmetic surgery. So if you feel you’ve suffered from autologous fat transfer negligence then contact us today on 0800 634 0285 or request a call back from Michael Saul, Partner and Head of our Cosmetic Negligence department or one of his team of expert solicitors.

Autologous Fat Transfer Surgery

Similar to other fat transplant procedures, the buttock fat transfer involves taking surplus fat from an area such as the thighs or abdomen, and injecting this into areas of the buttock that require volume and attempting to make the buttocks appear higher and more rounded. Unlike with buttock implants, fat transfer to the buttocks is delivered under local anaesthetic and conscious sedation. Fat is typically removed from a patient’s flanks, stomach or thighs. The fat is filtered with the unhealthy fatty cells removed. These micro-fat transfers (autologous grafts) are then injected back into the buttocks through a small incision as hundreds of tiny individual droplets to try to make the buttocks appear more rounded.

Autologous fat transfers usually proceed without complications but when buttock augmentation goes bad, the results can leave the patient in a lot of distress. At Cosmetic Surgery Solicitors we know how to deal with autologous fat transfer negligence claims and recognise the indications of negligent buttock augmentation.
